My First Love

You might be wondering what the girl has just blogged about or what you are about to read, i probably should write about my first love sometime along the line, but my first love in this context has to do with me writing my very first blog post.
Yaaaaay!!! Yes i am excited. You know how they always say “procastination is the thief of time”, trust me, it is.
I have always wanted to do this, this is the neither the first, second nor the third blog i have tried creating, i always end up waiting for the right time. When exactly is the right time to do anything? trust me, it is NOW.

Before i start to misyarn, let me introduce myself. Friends, colleagues, schoolmates, virtually everyone calls me Nwamaka. My name is also Onyenaturuchi which is the inspiration behind TuruChic. Nwamaka is synonymous to Chic, Turuchi is synonymous to Nwamaka so technically Turuchi is Chic but can we say Chicturuchi or turuchichic? naaa, too complicated, so lets just make it simple by agreeing on TuruChic. I eventually misyarned, i know.

Turuchi is a budding entrepreneur, a fashion and style enthusiast, a fashion designer, she not only designs, she sews as well, she draws pretty well, she has a full time job and now she is learning to create content and write.
Generally, the girl loves the good things, stylish people, everything art and fashion, simplicity, love, adventure, bright colours, local food, good people, photography, good friends and everything fun.

Creating a blog is an avenue for me to develop my creative side, become a better reader and writer, leave my comfort zone, learn new things, share knowledge, learnings, pictures, basically improve and grow. If you are hoping to find a wordsmith or perfect writer in me, trust me i might disappoint you. Just take me as i am and i am sure we will all enjoy the ride together.
I am glad i found a favourite place and i will try as much to be consistent.

Thanks for reading XOXO..

Memories from Ghana

I always thought I’d write on this sooner, although I hadn’t started a blog then, so yea, I have a valid excuse.

My friends and I wanted a new space to relax, hangout and celebrate the Christmas holidays and so, we decided to spend a few days in Ghana.

We packed our bags and set off for a 3-night stay at the Labadi Beach Hotel, a really beautiful and serene place, I’d recommend for a bonding trip.

We had arranged for a tour of some tourist attractions in Accra. Our tour guide – Mr Mensah, told us fascinating stories on the people, culture and history of Ghana. Also, how they have been able to preserve their history and artifacts. We visited the Dubois Museum, The Arts and Crafts center, and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum. We also went by places like Jamestown, the Lighthouse, the fishing port and a really popular road called Odododiodio (lol).

The Mausoleum

The Mausoleum- dedicated to Kwame Nkrumah was a truly amazing experience, unfortunately, pictures aren’t allowed inside, probably because It houses the body, properties and many personal effects of the Late Former president . We were able to look through some of his publications, family pictures. I truly felt like i was standing in the midst of times past.

In between all our journey, we didn’t hesitate to carry out our own research on the Ghanaian cuisine. We ate at local restaurants and tried food such as Waakye and Shito. we also, ate at the Buka Restaurant.

I most certainly tried the much debated Ghana Jollof, I found it really palatable and enjoyable, however, I accept that Nigerian Jollof is still KING :).

We went out celebrating at Coco Lounge and Skybar Villagio

Ghana was just the kind of trip my friends and I wanted, reminds us that there are many beauties around us. I would love to visit Ghana again in future .

Valentine’s at South

There are 3kinds of people on Valentine’s. The ones that love Valentine’s day, the ones that feel indifferent and those that just hate the day . I would say I feel indifferent about it.
Never have I actively prepared or looked forward to Valentine’s day mainly because I believe we should celebrate ourselves and our loved ones everyday.

Anyways, I did something this Valentine’s and it made me fall in love.

The plan was to go painting and have lunch with friends at South Eatery and social house . My friends and I arrived there at noon and I’d say the place was really cosy and nice with some cool oldies playing in the background.

We already picked a painting we wanted to replicate and an artist was also there to guide through the process.

I particularly  loved the creative paintings on the wall.

It is my very first painting even thou i draw sometimes, painting was absolutely fun for me and I definitely will try to do it often.

After painting, we ordered lunch, the price of food was quite on the high side, you pretty much can’t expect less from a restaurant on the Island.

I ordered Jambalaya, a mix of jollof rice with prawn and southern revival, a drink with a little mix of alcohol. The combo was enjoyable.

After lunch, I took some pictures. I particularly chose this dress I made for myself because it has a monochrome and vibrant colour mix. I think the valentine color should be pink because pink is cute, romantic, charming and tender, I guess that explains my shoe and bandana.

I really had a swell time. How did you celebrate Valentine’s day?

The List

Just before our very eyes, January has legit come and gone. Many of us complained of how slow January was, how many were chilling in “broke”lyn and waiting for payday but here is February, January wasn’t that slow afterall.

To be candid, i can’t pin point one major thing i achieved in January, i’ll probably just say “I lived”. I am quite sure a lot of us have already forgotten our resolutions and goals and then some of us will just keep saying “oh the year is still young, there is still plenty of time to do alot”, my dear, there is no time.

Kudos to those who already ticked and checked their January goals, you are the real MVP. I am not trying to scare anyone thou, it is not absolutely fine if you are in my shoes but it is okay, we gon be alright.

I was actually supposed to do this post early in the year but here we are and they say it is better late than never. I was scheduled to do a presentation at work on the first friday in January, just when we all got back from the holiday and i was sorta confused on what to present. I eventually presented on Soft skills and ended my presentation with a list which i intend to share here as well.
Basically, i compiled a to do list for the year. It is a simple list, concise and if followed through, would help you achieve a lot by the end of the year.

The list goes thus;

Write down your goals.

Say no to procrastination.

Take risks, do not be scared of failure.

Make money moves.

Be curious/Learn new things.

Learn to Save.

Eat right/Drink a lot of water.

Create memories.

Be real, Be YOU.

You can add to this list, recreate it and make it yours. Let’s do this guys..

Thanks for reading. Please like, comment, share, just be nice. lol

HAPPY NEW MONTH.
